“The Shanghai set is great. It's got five magenta 3x3 dishes, which means I can finally make magenta robot turtles. As per tradition I've experimented with a couple of heavy weapons: the Twin Heavy Blaster and Armoured Quad Cannon.”
“The last time this happened was the Cloud Cuckoo set from the LEGO Movie, when I ended up building lots of lime ones, plus assorted weapons. It's great to have magenta turtles at last. ”
“The turtle rainbow now looks like this.”

To be clear, Peter used the dishes from the set with his own brick collection; you can’t build these turtles only using the parts in the set.
Some other very exciting new colours of parts are included in 21039 Shanghai.
- There’s four of the very new 1x2 rounded plates (or “double apollo plates” as Peter likes to call them!) in Brick Yellow [TLG]/Tan [BL] (6212758|35480). Simon Liu reviewed these for us back in January.
- The new 1x3 jumper comes in Medium Blue (6211970|34103) here, and wa-hey, there’s 32 included! Chris McVeigh examined why these are so useful in his 70620 Ninjago City review.
- Two of those pointed pieces with axle hole (variously known as Bionicle Eyes or Bionicle Teeth) are provided here at long long last in Dark Stone Grey [TLG]/Dark Bluish Gray [BL] (6217813|41669).
So, Peter's building session didn’t stop with the magenta dishes.
“I put the tan plates to use as a joint in another new turtle weapon - the Tactical Assault Launcher.”
“I also used the tan plates for an experimental Keko-style robot, which includes back-mounted laser cannons.”
“I found another use for the tan pieces in this little microscale Fighter.”
“I used the grey shark teeth in this Transport Shuttle.”

Magenta is a really pretty color! Curious about possible turtle color combinations, I checked Bricklink, and if I am not mistaken, the turtle could also be built in: Trans Light Blue, Trans Red, Dark Red, and Trans Clear. I don't feel like buying the necessary parts to build these, but for those that are collecting turtles, these are also possible colors.
