2019 Parts Fest #2 : Eero's Fig-barf

Posted by Elspeth De Montes
Minifigures are not something you see an awful lot of on New Elementary but for his next Parts Festival submission, Finnish builder Eero Okkonen used the seed parts to create some awesome outfits and accessories!

I used to make lot of custom minifigures, usually in so-called 'barfs' of four to six figs but I last made one in August 2016, over three years ago.  Some of seed parts seemed useful at minifig scale, so I began fiddling. At first these figs were going to be on the bridge scene which developed into the creation called Frost Serpent Arises but they didn’t work in that context. In a way, this is a special gift to anyone who has asked me to make another barf or wondered why I ever stopped.

Brun Hammergrasp

This fig is a veteran of my first and only Brikwars experience. He has a hammer using Batman greeble capsules (the small variant) and a hubcap shield, all from Mini Accessory, No. 10 in Silver Metallic/ Flat Silver ( 40598 | 6266155).

Ambassador Välthung Brassgut

Another Brikwars veteran. The seed part – the bowl thing from Batman Mini Accessory, No. 11 in Silver Metallic ( 50018 | 6266977 ) - is used as a part of the brazier. A Transparent Orange robot arm piece made this usage possible. I enjoy the cryptic stud-on-stud connection between the silver and the gold parts.

Wurthans Grimboller

Once again a Brikwars veteran, although he went through some changes. The Batman bowl was one of the most enjoyable seed parts and is used here as part of the hammer. I like how the 1x1 round plate fits inside it; they are the type with pin hole, and a 3L bar connects them into the hammer.

Hamrad of Eternal Seek

This was a priest designed for the bridge scene. The Batman bowl and circular saw from Mini Accessory, No. 11 made this ritual helmet. It’s barely connected though. The Batman greeble bags actually include two different saws, and they’re mirrored versions of each other. What a luxury.

Frey of Gilded Glade

Not much to do with the seed parts but I had just bought some Spiderman web pieces – Mini Accessory, No. 6 (6238669|36083) – and they made a cool incense burning along with the Batman bowl. The sickle piece, from another family mould pack - Accessories, Sword, No. 1 in Silver Metallic (6225493|37341), created some druidic vibes.

Glamhoo of Raven’s Flight

An old technique from Moko used two old bats on 180 degree angled Technic connector (32034) to create a cool iron cross. I've stolen that technique for couple of MOCs previously and now I wondered if something similar could be done with these new, headless bats.  Here they’d look better if rest of the staff end was dark blue too, but you can’t have everything.
