Flowerfest: Introducing the elements

Here at New Elementary, we love a good Parts Festival! But we also love to push boundaries. So how about a Parts Festival containing no new moulds?

For our latest series of posts exploring new uses for elements, Eero Okkonen, Tom Loftus, Thomas Jenkins and myself will be harvesting three 2023 sets for seed parts... which will blossom into our original creations for your perusal.

We have chosen three sets from the LEGO® Icons Botanical Collection to use as inspiration for our MOCs: 10313 Wildflower Bouquet, 10314 Dried Flower Centerpiece and 40646 Daffodils which were all released in early 2023. These sets are renowned for using elements in way they weren't originally intended: how will we do creating non-botanical MOCs?

Although none of these sets contain new moulds, there are a wealth of recoloured and rare elements to talk about, and this introductory article will tell you all about them in advance of the Flowerfest commencing next Thursday.

Unique recolours

Eero has photographed the unique recoloured elements, mostly individually, so that you can see the numbers of parts you get in each set. There certainly are a lot of elements that you won't yet find anywhere else!
