We've already taken a look at the set's intriguing new moulds in Part 1 of our LEGO® Icons 10318 Concorde review and next time we will examine the build process. Today we'll be focusing on the recoloured and printed parts introduced in this set, and gosh, what a stunning selection of prints it is!

Recolours
But first, the recolours. Unsurprisingly, there are a number of notable elements now in white.
Apologies to anyone with trypophobia! A useful element introduced earlier this year, Plate Special 1 x 3 Rounded with 3 Open Studs in White (6450820 | 77850) is exclusive to the Concorde. A generous 23 are included in the set.

The exceptional quantity of 1x1 - 1x2 brackets in White (6442358 | 79389) warrants a mention. The part can be found in 4 other sets but an impressive 45 are included here.
Owing to the colour choice of the planes' tail fin, we get a trio of small, yet exclusive, Earth Blue/ Dark Blue recolours:

- 3x Brick Curved 1 x 1 x 2/3 Double Curved Top, No Studs (6403899 | 49307)
- 1x Bracket 1 x 1 - 1 x 2 Inverted (6450823 | 73825)
There is a small selection of noteworthy Black recolours too:

As we'll see in part 3 of our review, the 12x exclusively recoloured Technic Panel Fairings 2 x 1 x 1 in Medium Nougat (6450558 | 89679) make excellent little seats. My mind jumped straight to an alternative use, however...
I doubt I'm the first to dream this up, but the shape and colour instantly made me think of roof tiles. The set includes just enough of them to make this tablescrap. On a larger scale you could offset the tiles for greater realism. I tried that here but it just looked messy with only 3 roof tiles per row.

For a predominantly monochrome set, it's surprising to find even more colourful parts of interest. Also shown are a pair of recent grey recolours and an exclusive Trans-Black one:

Mould updates
Elspeth already took a look at the new style of Exo-Force clip in her Ninjago City Markets review. 10318 Concorde is the first set to introduce the new mould in red and has a decent quantity in White too:

New versions of 1x6x5 slopes are also included. Formerly ID 30249, the new mould (2937) features a reinforced interior with nail rail providing greater clutch power. It would seem the change-over is well underway as the updated version has appeared in numerous sets and colours throughout 2023.
Prints
10318 Concorde's lack of sticker sheet must come as a relief to those who prefer printed details. Ten unique printed elements are included along with some duplicates making 18 in total.
The largest are these 7x Slope Curved 8 x 6 x 2 Double in White with 7 Light Bluish Gray Airplane Windows print (6440033 | 103904). I doubt many folks would've appreciated having to carefully align several rows of teeny tiny windows so its great to see the decision was made to go for a repeated printed element.
The remaining prints are much more varied and, unsurprisingly, all are exclusive to the set:

The info plaque looks very classy with its gold on brown design. I'm excited to see what MOCing potential the generic ones could have. I'm itching to use the pointy red print on a spaceship at any rate. Alternatively, for the morbid builders out there, they could represent some... misplaced claret liquid - It's the month for spooky builds after all!
With my track record of fainting at paper-cuts however, I'll steer well clear of such subject matter and instead focus on building this beauty of an aircraft. Part 3 of our review examines the cleverest build techniques, nicest part usages and value for money.

DeleteNot a new part nor recolour, but part 2937 introduced in 2022 in set 60346 is also not yet very common.
ReplyDeleteLooking at the Concorde building instructions, I think that it would have been much harder to built such a large and stable delta wing only one-brick thick.
