Revealed: 76294 X-Men: The X-Mansion set and Cerebro GwP from LEGO® Marvel

Posted by Tim Johnson

On 1 November 2024, LEGO® Marvel are releasing a huge X-Mansion set with 10 minifigures and over 3,000 pieces! Five of the 10 characters are new in LEGO form, although not all necessarily made from new elements. We've spotted a few new recoloured pieces in the set as well.

Also available to LEGO Insiders from 1 to 7 November (while stocks last) is a Gift with Purchase (GwP) of the movie version of Professor Charles Xavier inside the Cerebro machine. Read on to see both models!

The Cerebro is Professor Charles Xavier's telepathic enhancement machine used to detect mutants all over the world so that he can bring them to his mansion. This LEGO version is certainly a shrunken rendition of the version from the movie, with just a hint of the large spherical room and floating platform, but it makes an awesome little display model!

So far we only have two box pictures and this rather poor render image:

Lego model of Professor Xavier minifigure in his wheelchair on the platform inside the Cerebro, looking at a screen with a face on it.

The round-cornered base is very stylish, as is the limited palette of grey with blues. The CEREBRO title brick is printed which looks awesome.

Professor Xavier has the same face as in the X-Mansion set, but wears a vest without a jacket, and rides in a LEGO wheelchair instead of the yellow brick-built version in the X-Mansion set. He is looking at a transparent-blue console showing a fan-favourite character called Jubilee. We're not sure if this is printed or a sticker.

Hopefully the reverse of the model also looks cool, but we don't know that yet!

Now to the main event: the Xavier Institute for Higher Learning. The walls are dark orange, which really helps to ramp up the comic book look of this model.

The rear of the model is fully enclosed. So how do you get inside? No, not through the dome.

The building divides into 6 rooms and 3 roof sections!

Not only is the dome removable...

... it is also explodable, thanks to a hidden function!

Minifig professor X uses the cerebro in his lab

Professor Xavier's lab, with the small Cerebro, is one of the rooms. Note he is in his classic yellow wheelchair from the comics.

Of course the Danger Room, where the X-Men are trained, is included.

You can swap out the walls of the Danger Room to pit the superheroes against a range of terrifying weapons!

There's also a giant pink and purple Sentinel to attack.

Minifigures

Aside from the Sentinel, 10 familiar characters are included as minifigures – five of which are appearing for the first time ever in a LEGO set.

Lego minifigs of Gambit, Iceman, Bishop, Professor Xavier and Jean Grey

The new LEGO minifigures are Gambit, Iceman, Bishop, Professor Xavier and a new variation of Jean Grey. (She is a photo rather than a render because strangely that image was not provided in the press pack.)

It looks like Xavier is made wholly from existing elements, but the others all include some new colours or prints. Jean Grey's hair is new in reddish orange.

official lego minifigs of Storm, Magneto, Cyclops, Wolverine and Rogue

The existing characters are Storm, Magneto, Cyclops, Wolverine and Rogue... but there are some new and rare elements among them. Storm's fares well: her skin tone is the new umber brown, her hair is new in white and her powers are represented by a new fabric element. Magneto wears the new cape mould (part 5725) from August sets, recoloured in dark purple.

Recolours

We haven't been able to spot any new moulds in this set, and just a few recoloured existing elements... let us know if you can see any more!

3 lego pieces

  • Ghost Effect with Bar (part 5500) in Trans-Dark Pink
  • Slope 33° 3 x 3 Double Concave (99301) in Dark Blue
  • Panel 1 x 6 x 5 (59349) in Dark Orange

  1. Nifty set! Not too much of an X-Men fan myself but it looks like this has a lot of characters and locations that fans of both the comics and cartoons will enjoy. I like that the mansion has multiple ways to open up so the interiors are highly visible from various angles.

Interestingly, some of the figures seem more cartoon-inspired and others more comic-inspired — from some quick Googling and wiki-browsing, Storm's design seems to be based primarily on her appearance in X-Men: The Animated Series (very similar to the X-Men '97 redesign, but with longer hair), Jean and Gambit's designs seem to be based on their appearances in X-Men '97, and Iceman and Bishop's designs seem comics-based.

I can't tell if the Professor X minifig's torso print is based on any pre-existing design — his necktie's stylish X motifs are a whole lot more elaborate than the solid or striped neckties he wears in most cartoon and comic images I've seen (and even many of his live-action appearances). But if anybody does recognize it from an earlier appearance, I'd love to know where it's from!

    1. It's Michael Scott's torso from the Ideas set based on the American incarnation of The Office. If it already had an X-based motif (based on interpretation), it might have been a reason the team picked it.

  2. Apparently, the yellow hoverchair originated in the comics in 1982, but I think it might have been more common in the animated series, and in later comics, Charles might generally have used a less conspicuous common wheelchair.
