Review: 10342 Pretty Pink Flower Bouquet from LEGO® Botanicals

Posted by Eero

2025 is not here yet, but we're having an early start with the new element mega-party pack, LEGO® Botanicals 10342 Pretty Pink Flower Bouquet. The "Botanical Collection" no longer sits under the LEGO® Icons branding and instead becomes its own theme, so are these plant sets still worthy of adult hobbyists?

New moulds

LEGO Sunflower (part 6901)

8 lego flower pieces in a light blue color
  • 8x Plant, Sunflower 2 x 2 with 16 Petals and Open Stud in Bright Light Blue (6525783 | 6901)

This is designed to be a flower and is indeed used as a flower. While not "original" use as such, it's a pleasant piece and useful in ornamentation.

2 examples of how to use the new lego sunflower (6901): it fits in a circular hole of 2 modules diameter; also you can stack them.

It covers a 2 x 2 module area, filling such a gap nicely. The petals are quite thin, so stacking them leaves some room in between. It could be used as a ruff of some sort, maybe on sleeves.

LEGO Leaf/Petal 4 x 6 x 1⅓ (part 7096)

15 large purple legp pieces that could be leaves or petals

  • 15x Plant, Leaf 4 x 6 x 1⅓ in Magenta (6519960 | 7096)

A beautiful piece, clearly related to Plant, Leaf 2 x 6 x 1 with 2 Studs (3565) in design, this new mould is also nice to photograph. To have 15 is a great quantity to start with, and the colour is elegant. The shaping reminds me of CCBS aesthetics, so this will make a good combination on Constraction models.

geometry of Lego Plant, Leaf 2 x 6 x 1⅓ (part 7096)

The measurements are beautifully in-System: 6 modules long, 4 modules wide; the tip arcs downward for the height of 2 plates, and the sides rise up by 1 plate.

LEGO Z-Blob / Ghost / Bell

White Lego Z-Blob piece shaped like a Ghost or Bell

  • 3x Ghost / Bell in White (6525849 | unknown)

I couldn't find the Design ID inside this piece.

The instructions explain that this has been designed for Z-Blob in the LEGO® DREAMZzz™ theme. In white, it reminds me of a ghost. It would make a great bell in metallic colours, too.

lego z blob piece placed upon other lego parts to show its geometry. Alongside is a lego sleteon but with the z blob piece instead of a head - it does not fit on properly

The piece is 4 plates tall. Most of it is one module in diameter, but the broadening lower part is wider. It doesn't have enough room inside to accommodate the diameter of a minifigure neck.

Brick, Round 1 x 1 with 3 Bars (part 6331)

4 green lego stalks

  • 4x Brick, Round 1 x 1 with 3 Bars in Dark Green (6525927 | 6331)

This piece will also be used upside-down as a black tripod for minifigures in LEGO® Minifigures 71048 Series 27 on 1 January. Its use in LEGO Botanicals is natural, as it looks like a sturdier cousin of the classic grass / flower stalk (3741); the major differences being that the bars are of the usual 3.18 mm type, and are even in length. It's a fun piece; unexpected, and very useful.

Recolours

lots of lego shields coloured light nougat
  • 24x Minifig Shield Triangular in Light Nougat (6525771 | 3846)

How to use 24 light nougat shields? Skye Barnick has suggested architectural detailing in pink marble; I think pink sandstone is another possibility. They could make a nice crenellation on the eaves line.

I call this next still life arrangement "The Wedding of the Woods":

multiple copies of 3 lego pieces. some green stalks are arranged in a circle and the other two parts are inside the circle

  • 2x Plant, Flower, Peony Rose with 2 Layers (6525773 | 5904)
  • 2x Brick Round 2 x 2 Dome Bottom [Open Stud] in Light Nougat (6525767 | 15395)
  • 12x Plant, Flower Stem with Bottom Pin in Sand Green (6526753 | 24855) - with 1 extra

Peonies in white are welcome, and the sand green stalks add variety to nature scenes, avoiding hues that are too bright.

various modified 1x1 lego plates in two shades of nougat

  • 8x Plate Special 1 x 1 with Tooth in Light Nougat (6525786 | 49668)
  • 4x Plate Special 1 x 1 with Tooth in Nougat (6525785 | 49668)
  • 8x Plate Special 1 x 1 with Clip Horizontal [Thick Open O Clip] in Nougat (6525784 | 61252, 52738)

What I see here is a bunch of ears! Some pierced for earrings, some not. Now we just need the rest of the necessary pieces for heads in nougat and light nougat.

pink lego shoulder pauldron pieces

  • 8x Large Figure Shoulder Cover, Armor, Round, Smooth with Bar in Bright Pink (6517933 | 1686)

I smell roses here - indeed a same (or at least very similar) rose design that has appeared already in nougat, red and dark pink. But just as well, these armour shells are fantastic pieces and I've already had plenty of fun with them. Bright pink is a good colour.

8 pink lego mudguards

  • 8x Wheel Arch, Mudguard 2 x 3 x 1 1/3 in Bright Pink (6517912 | 49097)

The rose is completed by the thin mudguard, relatively easy to integrate into MOCs due to its one-plate-thick connection.

ten long green lego axles

Dark green looong axle joins the options for LEGO Botanicals flower stalks. Axles this long are never exactly straight, but it won't be an issue here, and possibly one that is impossible to solve in plastic moulding.

4 green lego pieces

  • 6x Bar 3L in Dark Green (6525789 | 87994) - 1 is extra
  • 4x Crown / Flower / Egg Shell Half in Dark Green (6525766 | 39262)
  • 6x Equipment Candlestick in Dark Green (6522274 | 37762)
  • 2x Plant, with Bar and Off-shoot with Stud in Dark Green (6529632 | 1566)

Unsurprisingly, there's more recolours in dark green. While nothing too revolutionary, I'm happy to see the available selection of parts in this colour, introduced in my childhood, to grow.

16 orange lego axe heads

  • 16x Weapon Axe Head, Clip-on (Viking) [Thick Clip] in Orange (6525753 | 53454)

Axe heads are a slam-dunk choice for petals due to their unique shape and elegant clip connection. 16 is a nice amount to start with. But…

many reddish orange axe heads

  • 44x Weapon Axe Head, Clip-on (Viking) [Thick Clip] in Reddish Orange (6526752 | 53454)

...even more axe heads, and in reddish orange! This is enough for a battalion of dwarves. With reddish orange axe blades.

large green lego leaves

  • 16x Plant, Leaf 2 x 6 x 1 with 2 Studs in Sand Green (6525770 | 3565)

These leaf parts look great in photos, and are perfect for drier climates. I think they'll be very useful in non-plant uses as well. They certainly remind me of plesiosaur flippers and the 2001 LEGO® Dinosaurs theme; another personal childhood classic. These 16 would make 4 plesiosaurs, a prehistoric marine force to be reckoned with.

7 different lego parts

  • 2x Plant, Leaves, Round 2 x 2 x 2/3 with + Axle Hole and 4 Leaf Extensions in Bright Light Orange (6525787 | 15469)
  • 2x Dish 6 x 6 Inverted (Radar) with Solid Studs in Reddish Orange (6483785 | 44375b)
  • 3x Plant, Fern 3 x 4 x 2 in Dark Red (6529631 | 5151)
  • 2x Bar Curved with Axle End and 1 x 1 Round Plate in Sand Green (6525748 | 4042)
  • 3x Plant, Flower Stem with Bar and 6 Stems in Dark Pink (6525790 | 19119)
  • 3x Plate Special 1 x 1 with Hole Through Stud, 3 Bars and 3 Bar Holes in Dark Pink (6525769 | 1941)
  • Minifig Head Plain [Vented Stud - 2 Holes] in Magenta (6493246 | 28621) - spotted on Pick a Brick walls

I'm finishing the impressive recolour section with this happy arrangement of miscellaneous goodies. Look at all these beautiful colours.

The large fern piece in dark red is bound to become someone's tongue, and the bright light orange petal round bricks will make some pretty detailing on clothing.

Rare parts

2 different lego parts

light nougat lego tiles of 2 types

  • 4x Tile 45° Cut 2 x 2 (Triangle) in Light Nougat (6480369 | 35787) - in 2 other sets
  • 4x Tile 1 x 1 with Groove - Light Nougat (6480394 | 3070b) - with 1 extra, in 2 other sets

many round green lego tiles

  • 12x Tile Round 2 x 2 with Bottom Stud Holder in Sand Green (6468072 | 14769) – in 2 other sets

These make nice cushions for furniture, so I'm happy to have such a bunch.

green lego bars

3 different lego parts

  • 2x Plate Special 2 x 2 with Bar Frame Octagonal, Reinforced, Completely Round Studs - Reddish Orange (6510511 | 75937) - also in 10343 Mini Orchid (review by me is coming)
  • 3x Plant, Flower Stem with Bottom Pin in Dark Green (6498565 | 24855)- with 1 extra, also in 10340 Wreath (see our review by Tom Loftus)
  • 4x Plant, Leaves, Round 2 x 2 x 2/3 with + Axle Hole and 4 Leaf Extensions in White (6468789 | 15469) - in 2 other sets

Cool pieces all around.

The completed bouquet

Pretty Pink Flower Bouquet Lego set botanical displayed in a glass vase

In size, this is similar to previous bouquets. The first impression is the masterful arrangement of colours; there's enough bright deep hues and complementing natural, paler colours. It's called pink in the name of the set, but its pinkness is not overflowing. It's very convincing.

close up of some flowers in Pretty Pink Flower Bouquet Botanical Lego

The bright pink roses look similar to ones in 10328 Bouquet of Roses, but due to the different connection of the outer petals, they're not as closed. The spiked shape of the white cornflower adds a nice contrast, being no less beautiful. The orange Persian buttercup has the best gradient of the bouquet, finishing with the yellow 3L axle in the middle.

close up of some flowers including boat orchid in Pretty Pink Flower Bouquet Botanical Lego

The most striking, hero flower is the boat orchid, sporting the newly moulded petals. Three are included, but two of them share their stalk. The design is good, if slightly monstrous. The connection of the middle section could be stronger, but this issue is not huge.

close up of waterlily dahlia and other flowers in Pretty Pink Flower Bouquet Botanical Lego

Although the shield petals are flatter than on the real flower, the waterlily dahlia is beautiful, with its manifold shape and tender light nougat colour. The bright light blue daisies are small, but the effect of their colour to the whole is crucial. I think the Minions hair tuft pieces (68212) look perfect as their centres, as if they had been designed for this very use.

close up of canterbury bells along with other flowers in Pretty Pink Flower Bouquet Botanical Lego

Canterbury bells have a very different morphology from the other flowers, but no less beautiful. It adds a neat vertical element to the arrangement. The flowers are supported by two sand green plants: elder (oval leaves) and "baby blue" eucalyptus (round leaves). They make the whole thing calmer.

A vase is not provided, though one is needed for display.

The set looks great. But I have to address the elephant in the room: you can't display it simultaneously while using all the precious parts in your own models.

Conclusion

As this review has been praise all the way through, I don't have much more to say here. I'm happy to see more LEGO Botanicals sets; the designers still have plenty of fresh ideas, and new moulds make the set even more desirable for a MOC builder.

US$59.99/ £59.99/ 59.99€/ AU$99.99 for 749 parts is great value, because these parts are all-the-way great. Displaying it and parting it out into your LEGO collection are both viable options.

  1. I do agree 100% to the last sentence : the dilemma is strong with botanical sets : display them, or use their parts 🤔 ? Usually, here they stay displayed, but the chrysanthem lost some bananas recently 😅...

    1. A nice thing about the botanical sets is that often a lot of the cool rare/exclusive parts are at the ends of the plants where they're not too hard to "borrow" if the mood strikes you!

  2. Great review and lovely new parts! I think the measurements on the new magenta leaf are off - shouldn’t it be 4 wide?

    1. Thanks, and thanks for the heads-up. It is a typo, as the part analysis image+text immendiately following it states the correct number.

  4. Thanks for the great review! I feel the same dilemma with displaying. I try to buy a new one from time to time to justify taking apart the one I am currently displaying. Given what you have done with previous review sets, I'm hoping you take this one apart. ;)

On a side note, were new moulds not allowed when the botanical sets were under the Icons theme? I don't remember seeing any new molds in the previous sets, which had a certain charm.

    1. About new molds : i had the same thought, now Botanicals is a specific theme and it could be why we have those new molds. But where i m very stunned is about the plethora of recolours 🫨, that's alot ! (And that's a good point for us 😊)

    2. Well, only one of these new molds (the big leaf/petal) seems specific to the botanicals as of yet, and so it's quite possible that there will be other 2025 themes making use of it like all the others. I can definitely imagine it being used for a giant beanstalk in a theme like Dreamzzz or Super Mario, or for flippers on a Creator sea creature.

    3. Good point. Now I'm excited to see how they will use it in other themes!

  5. That dark green 1x1 roun with 3 angled bars seems very useful. I see it has an axlehole in the bottom. As far as I know, axleholes do accept bars, but the clutch strength can vary a lot. So, do these new pieces 'stack' in the sense that you can put them on each other's bars? If so, I foresee it being very useful in minifig scale tree/bush/fern building.

  6. If connected from the bottom, the prongs are too short to reach the axle grip. Putting 1x1 round plate with hollow stud works, giving alright clutch with the stud. It can indeed be used to multiply the brances, forming an enlarging structure. Nice idea!
