There has never been a LEGO® Botanicals polybag; but in 2025 there will be a LEGO Botanicals paper-based bag! It seems that polybags are so 2024 and next year's small impulse sets will be stored in something else. I like this change – the grainy print of the paper section feels more appropriate to this set. It's a bit like the seed bags sold to gardeners.

There is a serration line on the bag. It heeds the holy traditions of serration lines by not working at all.
[Editor's note: Awkwardly, it seems the US version comes in a fully plastic polybag. This is Dino Attack/Dino 2010 nonsense all over again!]
The parts
Tearing the bag reveals one new mould, and a fascinating friend:
- Sunflower 2x2 in Yellow (6509767 | 6901) – new mould
- Differential Gear - 22 Tooth Bevel with Round Axle Hole (6391160 | 69761) – fascinating friend
- 3x Bar 6L with Stop Ring in Sand Green (6474602 | 28921)
- 5x Plant, Flower Stem with Bar and 6 Stems in Tan (6463564 | 19119)
The completed build
However, the small size of the flowers makes them difficult to display. I had problems finding a glass or jar thin and tall enough not to spread them awkwardly. It's a cute and pleasant set, but not much more. And that's okay.

While I get that they're literally a decade old at this point, it's sort of funny to see the round tile with bar in a quantity of 30+ (assuming extras) in such a tiny set.
ReplyDeleteI hadn't realized those differential years were so rare. They are definitely put to great use here!
ReplyDeleteWho else isn't surprised that the US won't be getting the paper bagging again lol. The only equipment that Lego has switched over for paper bagging in North America are the machines used to package specialised figures like Velociraptors and possibly Jabba the Hutt. I seriously wonder how many more years they'll take.
ReplyDeleteRegarding the packaging, I noticed something odd yesterday when I bought a new Mario Kart sets here in Denmark.
ReplyDeleteAll the new boxes features the piece count on the box, something that have limited to 18+ here in Europe.
The Mario set was from the Czech factory and contained paper bags. My crackpot theory is TLG can speed up the paper bag distribution by shipping from Europe, now the boxes are NA-compatible.
