71837 Ninjago City Workshops
- Release date: 1 March 2025
- Pieces: 3244
- Price: US$249.99/ £219.99/ 249.99€/ AU$399.99
Described by LEGO as a stunning 4-story model featuring a mechanic workshop, two working cranes, and for the first time ever, the ability to create and customise a posable mech toy complete with a selection of armor and stickers.
The set also features vibrant apartments, bustling stores, and delightful restaurants, each designed to be removed and played with separately.
Customisable mech
There is a mech under construction at the workshops. The mech can be displayed the platform in the mech bay, which has a moving play function. The mech frame starting point seems ripe for customisation, a great play function.
Minifigures
The set comes with 10 minifigures, including Zane, Pixal, and the never-seen-before characters Dorama, Dr. LaRow, Harumi, and Twitchy Tim.
Here's a closer view of Dorama, Dr. LaRow, Harumi, and Twitchy Tim from the product images.
New elements
We only spotted a couple of new recoloured elements when scrolling through the press images. Let us know if you can see more.
- Surfboard in Red (90397)
- Paint brush with Dark Blue tip (93552)
Play functions
As mentioned, LEGO describe the mech as a play function saying there is "...the ability to create and customise a posable mech toy complete with a selection of armor and stickers".
You can see the worm gears in the image, the mechanism moves the platform forwards and backwards.
There are two working cranes; one on the roof and another within the workshops.
It looks like this garage door can be raised and lowered via the gear on the adjacent wall.
Roofs
It is always fun spotting the unusual methods used to make roofs in Ninjago City sets. Utilising the modified 1x2 plate with catapult (88289) is a great idea, while minifigure seats are used on the top floor.
There are always some
great sticker graphics in the Ninjago City sets. We spotted a couple of references to retired themes LEGO® Fabuland and LEGO® Paradisa in the images, but it will be nice to see the whole sticker sheet.
Modular
It is a modular set that is compatible with other Ninjago City sets, including 71741 City Gardens and
71799 City Markets. The set on the left is 71799 Ninjago City Markets which
we reviewed back in 2023.
71837 NINJAGO® City Workshops will will be available for purchase starting 1 March 2025.

The shutters on the noodle shop (sand green building on the bottom right) window caught my eye. Are those a new, smaller version of the garage roller door piece?
ReplyDeleteIf we're looking at the same part of the model, it's just five vertical lightsaber blades. Three are attached from below and two from above, so there is a half-plate offset between them.
DeleteWas confused by the garage door function until I realized it's just assembled wrong in the close-up shot of it being half open. (Pins on the door are stuck into the ring where the pin and axle connections are, rather than the smooth track, which wouldn't allow for any movement.) Pretty cool feature, both functionally and aesthetically!
ReplyDeleteAlso that Piraka minifigure spine piece has really earned its keep, huh. Almost 20 years of service at this point.
This set seems like it was designed by different people than the previous ones. Those sliding rooms are the thing that FunWhole brand got so much appreciation in their recording studio modular. I wonder how these two changes are connected to each other. But still with all those rooms the build seems quite empty. This build is much less cuberpunky than the previous ones. And the minifig selection seems rather bland. We need to see this one connected to the rest of the lineup to really judge this.
ReplyDeleteSliding rooms like that were already used in the previous Ninjago City set too, along the left edge (to allow rooms under the upper cable car station to be removed without being able to remove that upper floor).
DeleteSlight correction; Harumi has 4 figs already:
ReplyDelete- Princess Harumi
- The Quite One Harumi
- Oni Mask of Hatred Harumi
- Kill Bill Harumi (Avatar Harumi)
While this is the first time we get "Civilian Harumi", it's not true that Harumi herself is a "never-seen-before" character.
Great article, as always!
Thanks, I should have been more specific! THANK YOU :-)
DeleteCan I just have the Paradisa and Fabuland stickers please 😍
ReplyDeleteAmusingly, the Paradisa sticker says "Parateasa" in Ninjargon, and the center "E" is stylized to resemble a cup of bubble tea!
Deleteso do you think this is a teasa for the return of Paradisa???!
DeleteGood thing that the pun also works in Ninjargon. I'd like to see a return of Paradisa Medium Green for future MOC:ing. It's difficult to combine the Paradisa color scheme with other Lego schemes and difficult to construct believable green gradients with the limited part selection.
DeleteHarumi figs... - Princess Harumi
ReplyDelete- The Quite One Harumi (two)
- Oni Mask of Hatred Harumi
- Kill Bill Harumi (Avatar Harumi) and now casual harumi I am sooo excited I am such a fan of harumi I have bean waiting so long and it is finely here I was already hopeless and writing notes of how I am going to make a custom casual harumi but it is good that I did not continue because then I would have two casual harumi figs you people do not know how happy I am right now also I really hope that harumi is in the show Ninjago dragons rising season 3 I am so excited!💚
Sorry, I should have been more specific - first civilian, casual dressed Harumi. Sorry :-)
DeleteI am very happy that we get a casual harumi but I just realized that the harumi figs legs does not have the golden design that she has in the show why do all the figs of this set looks so cheap💚
ReplyDeleteOften when there are several uniquely printed figs in one set, it can mean each individual figure has a smaller share of the new element budget. By comparison, most Ninjago minifigure parts tend to be shared between multiple sets, so the cost of their new printed elements can be spread out more evenly across the entire wave.
DeleteThe designers presumably COULD have given Harumi leg printing if they chose to omit one of the other new characters with new prints, but they chose to prioritize the number of characters over any one character's level of detail. Which is probably for the best — I mean, if they had to pare down the number of characters with new prints, a character like Harumi who hasn't shown up in a few seasons might not even have made the cut!
Can someone please answer my question harumi's royal parent's died and harumi is Supposed to become an empress correct? or are you Supposed to get married then become empress thanks💚
ReplyDeleteHarumi was technically next in line to be empress but her past crimes (including the destruction of the palace and presumed deaths of the rest of the royal family when she was running the Sons of Garmadon) very likely have ruled out her eligibility, if not the royal institution altogether. And with the merge in Dragons Rising vastly reshaping Ninjago as a whole, it's especially unclear what political institutions in Ninjago remain unchanged. I don't know if we're likely to get any clear answers, since the series largely tends to focus on serialized adventures over that sort of technically complex worldbuilding.
DeleteBut how did any one know harumi killed the royal family?
DeleteDon't forget, she was in hiding with the Ninja in the immediate aftermath of the attack (since she still had to pretend she was one of the targets and that the perpetrator was still out there), so there wasn't really an opportunity for a formal coronation. By the time she emerged from hiding, her treachery had been revealed and her plot to revive Garmadon and install him as Emperor was well underway.
DeleteTheoretically, she COULD have revealed that she was alive and arranged for a coronation shortly as soon as she returned to Ninjago City with the Sons of Garmadon and the Oni Masks. But becoming Empress was not really part of her plan, and her actual top priority was completing the ritual before the Ninja or anybody else got another chance to interfere.
I guess she told Lloyd remember when they were in the oni temple to get the mask of hatred and Harumi betrayed the ninja remember Lloyd said the emperor and empress and Harumi cut him off and said they were never my parents… I have watched every episode of sons of garmadon and that is what I think happened… I of course watch all the episodes of sons of garmadon over and over again because I just love casual Harumi and that is the only season that has casual Harumi so ya thanks everyone💚
DeleteSo does any one have any thots on what could have happened to garmadon and if he will be in dragons rising at all and what will be his reaction to master wus death my mom is saying that master wu will be back but I do not believe that and me and my mom is pretty sad about wus death I mean how long is he supposed to live for thanks💚 I love harumi that is why I keep putting a green hart and because my favourite Color is green and agen thanks💚
ReplyDeleteI definitely think that we will see Garmadon and Master Wu again at some point! That said, I think Dragons Rising has been taking its time re-introducing older characters so that they don't overshadow the new team members like Arin, Sora, and Wyldfyre. For example, it seems like season 3 will finally be bringing Pixal back!
DeleteYes I know but I don’t think master wu will return because if you watched dragons rising season 2 part 2 it was confirmed that master wu was dead I said that only my mom believes that he will be back not me as always thanks everyone I always appreciate all the comments or whatever it is called so thanks💚
DeleteHow do all of you have those cool 😎 sick avatars I would appreciate if someone could tell me how to get one I do not have a google account so if you need an account to get an avatar I would appreciate if someone can confirm thanks as always💚
ReplyDeleteyes, its the google account
