New mould
Brick Curved 1 x 1 (7126)
- 1 x Brick Curved 1 x 1 in Bright Yellow/ Yellow (6532053 | 7126)
The element is 1 module wide and 3 plates high.

It joins the relatively new family of 3 plate-high curved slopes. Shown from left to right we have:
- Slope, Curved 2 x 2 Corner Round with Recessed Stud (5846)
- Slope, Curved 2 x 1 with Recessed Stud (5841)
- Slope, Curved 1 x 2 (7134)
- Slope, Curved 1 x 2 with Bottom Stud Holder (37352)
- Slope, Curved 1 x 1 (7126)
We first noticed these newer curved slopes replacing the previous 4 plate-high curved slopes last year in sets like 10344 Lucky Bamboo which had Slope, Curved 2 x 1 with Recessed Stud (5841) or 71490 Izzie and Bunchurro the Gaming Bunny which had Slope, Curved 2 x 2 Corner Round with Recessed Stud (5846).
There are two more elements that match the curve but not the height of the new mould. On the left we have Slope, Curved 1 x 1 x 1 1/3 Corner Round (1871) and on the right, Tile, Round 1 x 1 Quarter (25269).
The curved corner slope is interesting as it is also a relatively new element but it is 4 plates high rather than 3. We wondered why the element designers chose to retain the height with this element but then introduce the 3 plates high elements next? Perhaps it relates to its first use in 76911 007 Aston Martin DB5, where it required a large print surface?
The 1x1 curved brick fits neatly under Arch 1 x 3 x 2 Curved Top (92903, 6005), Arch 1 x 4 x 2 (6182) and Arch 1 x 4 (3659) – with adjustments made for the arches' differing heights.
Of course the other updated Arch 1 x 3 x 1 2/3 Curved Top (5843) is a perfect fit, as it is essentially 6005 with a plate removed from the base.

There's another element that has the same curve but inverted, which may be a useful combination to complete the curve. Slope Curved 2 x 2 Inverted with 1 x 2 Cutouts (1750) is shown here in Orange connected to the new mould in yellow.

We indeed owe the height of the curved corner to the Aston Martin, I'm pretty sure I read that in an article.. on this very website lol
ReplyDeleteIndeed, hence linking to that article :-)
DeleteI bought HeiHei day one, and after finishing the build immediately told my wife I'd be getting a second copy for the parts alone. This set ticked every box for me.
ReplyDeleteTicked all my boxes too - I was very pleased with this set build, final appearance, parts just a great set!
DeleteIt's baffling that sets like this aren't more prominent. This is what happens when TLG remembers that they are a construction toy first and an IP slave last, or at least a distant second.
ReplyDeleteI might just buy a few more and have a herd of Hei Heis...
