2x Points on selected LEGO® Lord of the Rings™ sets

The Australian and New Zealand LEGO.com sites indicate that from 2 to 8 April 2025, LEGO Insiders double points are available on selected LEGO Lord of the Rings sets. Perhaps all countries will follow suit.

However, following the link to see which sets are included currently shows no LEGO Lord of the Rings sets; instead just the sets that qualified for double points last month are displayed. This is presumably a mistake and the site has not correctly updated yet? 

Based upon the image on the Offers and Sales page shown above, we expect that it will be 2x points on 10316 Rivendell™ and 10333 Barad-dûr™. Both expensive sets, but hey, that's a lot of points!

The scene occurs on the Gladden River, and depicts the opening scene from The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King with Sméagol in a boat on the water, and Déagol diving underwater for The One Ring.

The back of the box reveals the scene that follows: Déagol joyously inspects The One Ring on the riverbank while Sméagol – instantly on his way to being corrupted by The One Ring and to become Gollum – sneaks up menacingly behind him. 

Minifigures

We've seen plenty of Gollum over the years so to get a Sméagol minifigure is an absolute treat, as is Déagol. With double-sided heads that convey the extremities of the drama in this pivotal scene, this gift with purchase is likely to be a hot item for LEGO The Lord of The Rings fans.

Déagol is holding his breath on one side, and on the other, looks joyously at the ring he has discovered. Sméagol looks content on one side as he watches his cousin in the water, but on the other side looks positively evil and menacing as he is affected by the sight of The One Ring!

We can see many special rare elements within these minifigures too, but our review of this set is not far away so we will discuss those then.

On 27 March, LEGO revealed this LEGO® Creator gift with purchase to celebrate Children's Day, although it doesn't indicate which of the many Children's Days they mean! International Children's Day is 1 June, which seems most likely. World Children's Day is 20 November. I'm confused. Maybe we will get this GwP multiple times!

Despite the slight appearance of a frown from some angles, this is a truly adorable GwP making full use of the wide range of curved LEGO elements, including many moulds introduced in recent years. 

The arms and legs are poseable – aww, those sausage arms! They use the updated longer version of the 2x2 tube macaroni (5489) in tan, which to date has only appeared in Jonas Kramm's BrickLink Designer Studio set 910037 Mushroom House! Also rare in tan are the 2x2x⅔ quarter domes (5852), so far only found in 31162 Cute Bunny.

The bear is customisable, with 4 different looks provided: 

• glasses and a book, 
• a blue bow tie and pencils and paper, 
• a pink bow tie and a rose, or 
• a set of 3 LEGO® bricks.

You can't set sail on the river steamboat Amelia without a ticket! 

This is an understated architectural model with some nice details. It seems a bit dull, but note that  LEGO.com only shows the model from one single angle.

Their description provides two more clues: 

• There is a riverboat museum inside comprising a small steam boat model, and a microfigure
• The tiles with 'TICKET' and 'AMELIA' with schedule information are printed
